I'm catching up on some older trail notes..but this was an adventure I didn't want to let
go for too many years. The details tend to get lost after too much time. In 2010 I had my first real job as a cartographer
working for Nomadas Outdoor Services based in Punta Arenas, Chile. Myself, and Benjamin Sundy, the other half of the cartographic
team, were there to create maps for the 2011 edition of the Patagonian Expedition Race, a multi-day, multi-stage race through
some of the most remote terrain on Earth.
Between Christmas and New Years we set out with a team of 4 chilenos to explore the unexplored for the upcoming race. A section of the route had never been done before, possibly never hiked by any human ever. We had to make sure it was possible before sending the teams out there a month later. It was an unforgettable experience and I hope to one day get back and see more of this part of the world. Click the lines on the map for day to day details.
